Setting Up Your ThunderBolt Putter

Unlike other types of clubs such as drivers and irons that require you to learn body mechanics and techniques, the ThunderBolt putter can be adapted to the way you swing the putter.   You'll need to change the way you look at putting because putting is more than a club.  It's the golfer and putter working together in unison.  So, it may take a bit of time to adjust your perspective.  And as with any new golf club, you'll need a some time to practice using it, either on a practice putting green or some rounds of golf.

When you first receive the ThunderBolt putter, you'll notice that it's heavy.  This is to let you create a putter with a large MOI (Moment of Inertia) or forgives and to have a full range of face balance options (We are working on other types and shapes of rear weights to provide a huge range of putter characteristics).

Start by removing the weights and using the putter as a blade putter (You may find that this alone works for you) to acclimate to the feel.  It helps to use a practice putting green at your local course so you can evaluate the putter on real world conditions.  Choose a starting spot that's about 20 feet (about 6 - 7 paces) from the hole.   Use a putting stroke that's comfortable and relaxed for you.  Watch how the ball leaves the club face.  Does it go consistently straight, right, or left.  Try to be consistent with your stroke and aim consistently.

Next, move the weights.  This is where the experimentation begins and you can really learn how you putt.  Slide the weights fore and aft, hitting 4 or 5 balls from the same spot.  Observe the path of the ball and the feel of the club.  Slide the weights fore or aft, put the weights closer together, or flip them over.  This may take some time, but be patient.  You'll eventually find a combination, or two, that works for you.

Once you're ready to use the ThunderBolt Putter on course, warm up on the practice green with the weight config that you like and make adjustments depending on the greens condition and how your body is feeling.  Make sure the weights are tight and go out for a great round of golf.
